Aging Well

Meeting Format:
Every month we focus on a different topic relevant to aging. We usually have one presenter who guides us through the topic for 15-20 minutes and then poses some thought-provoking and conversation-starting questions to the group. Participants then enter breakout sessions (typically 30-35 minutes with 3-5 people in each) to answer those questions, ask new ones, and share helpful insights. In the final 30 minutes, everyone comes back together to hear the highlights from each breakout session and a few final thoughts from the presenter. While our topics can be weighty, our meetings are always friendly and often fun.

Participants:
Ages 35 to 95. Some are working, some semi-retired, some retired. Wide variety of current and past professions, hobbies, and passions. Some Harvard. Some Radcliffe. Some friends and family. Many regulars, but always some new people too. A nice mix of life stages and viewpoints.

Aging Well Advisory Committee:
Five regular attendees serve as advisors to Leaders Lee and Paul. They attend monthly advisory meetings to suggest and develop monthly topics, arrange speakers, and help with other meeting and group logistics.

Meeting Privacy Policy:
Our Zoom meetings are not recorded or transcribed by the Harvard Club of San Francisco in accordance with Harvard Alumni Association policies regarding digital privacy. Since participants are sometimes sharing stories of a personal nature, participants may not use AI assistants or other recording devices during the meetings. If a hearing-impaired attendee needs captioning in Zoom, that can be arranged in advance, however there may be an on-screen warning indicating transcription. That Zoom language is erroneous as no meetings are ever recorded or transcribed.

Meeting participants often choose to share their contact information in the Zoom group chat but are not obligated. If discussion leaders are willing to share their presentation slides or other references with participants on request, they will put their contact info into the Zoom group chat.
