Experience the future of San Francisco as a volunteer tutor or mentor with the Boys & Girls Clubs!

The Harvard Club of San Francisco welcomes the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco as its latest community service partner. We are especially honored to be working with the historic Columbia Park Clubhouse.

The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF) believes that young people will realize their full potential when they have the access to opportunities, and where they are surrounded by an environment of respect, innovation, education and fun. Its programs and dedicated staff engage youth in positive activities with peer supports that promote self-esteem.

Our partnership with BGCSF represents a unique opportunity to perform challenging but extremely rewarding work in San Francisco's most dynamic, diverse, and important community. You will work alongside an excellent staff of truly committed adults and positive, motivated, responsible teens, including some Columbia Park alumni.

While the Columbia Park Clubhouse could use volunteers in all areas (education and career development, sports, fitness, recreation, the arts, etc.), the staff have made a special request for help in the evening tutoring program. Tutors are most urgently needed on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-6:30and from 6:00-7:00.

The Columbia Park Clubhouse is conveniently located in the Mission at 450 Guerrero Street, San Francisco and can be easily reached via public transportation. For further information on getting involved, we encourage all interested members of the Harvard community to contact:

Tim Simpson, Community Outreach Manager, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco, (415) 445-5482, tsimpson@kidsclub.org.

Be sure to mention your affiliation with Harvard, and our partnership with the Columbia Park Clubhouse.

Be a Buddy-For-A-Day: Special Mentorship Event at Columbia Park Boys & Girls Club

The Harvard Club of San Francisco, and our partners at the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco, are pleased to present this excellent volunteer opportunity to the members the Bay Area Harvard community:

Each year, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco matches 100 boys with 100 men and 100 girls with 100 women for two one-day “buddy” events filled with lighthearted competition, games, food and prizes. It’s an opportunity for our club members to interact with a caring, responsible adult from their own community or beyond —someone who might inspire them to think about the future and to dream big!

You’ll spend the entire event with one club member, playing games like bumper pool and foosball, shooting hoops, putting a golf ball, playing computer games, and much more! And in between the activities, you’ll have plenty of time to get to know your little buddy and share a little of yourself with a really great kid!
